Success Story

Matt is one of our newest extraordinary patients not allowing his amputation to stop him from living life again.

Matt was in a severe motor vehicle accident, which necessitated an amputation of his left lower extremity. Before his accident, Matt was an active duty police officer, with a history of service in the Marine Corps. This accident was not going to keep Matt away from any of his career goals, hobbies, or very important family. Matt was determined from the very beginning to return to working as a police officer, playing on stage as an impressive bagpipe musician, and spending time with his family and children.

Matt started his prosthetic process by meeting our team. POA started the post-operative shrinker regimen to prepare his limb for wearing a prosthesis. POA gave Matt and his family in-depth education on what to expect with prosthetic care, a tour of our in-house fabrication lab, and kept close communication with his surgical and healthcare team.

Once Matt had fully healed and was able to be fit with his prosthesis. He has been unstoppable! Matt diligently went to physical therapy to ensure proper gait mechanics. He has been incredibly active after his amputation, including returning to work, performing on stage as a musician, going on cruises, and hiking around the pyramids in Mexico!
