'Accreditation' and 'Certification' - Big Words with Big MeaningsOur clinical offices are 'accredited' facilities.Accreditation is granted to a facility when it meets established standards set by ABC, the American Board for Certification in Orthotics and Prosthetics. ABC is a national association in the orthotic and prosthetic profession, officially recognized by Medicare and other government agencies and payors. Standards evaluated by ABC include patient care management, quality assurance, facility management, and adherence to safety and security regulations. ABC has recognized our facilities at the highest level of accreditation. While 'accreditation' represents a facility meeting established national standards, 'certification' represents the standards met by each individual practitioner. Asking about a practitioner's background and experience can be an important step in building a relationship based on trust. All of our prosthetists and orthotists are 'certified' practitioners. Certification is granted to prosthetists and orthotists only after successfully completing a college degree and clinical residency and passing difficult evaluation exams. Our clinical team represents almost 100 years of professional experience in our local community. The combination of book smarts, practical experience, and a caring human spirit makes for good patient care. |
